Young start-up owner’s viral post redefines what it means to be successful

A recent social media post by entrepreneur Aman Goel, co-founder and CEO of Grey Labs AI, is striking a chord with many on the internet.
Goel, who says he sold his start-up for millions in November 2021 at age 26, shares how he chose a path very different from others.
Instead of luxury cars and flashy spending, his focus was on building a life centred around family, health and making memories.
The post, shared on X, has quickly gained traction, resonating with young professionals, founders and investors alike.
“Most people that age would have splurged on flashy cars, watches, or a lifestyle designed to impress. I went a different way,” says Goel.
He says his priority after selling his start-up was family. He moved his parents to Mumbai to live with him. “They still live with me today, and that’s the best decision I’ve made,” he writes.
He then talks about how health was his next major focus. “I’ve lost over 15 kg and hired a fitness coach. My wife and I also get comprehensive health check-ups twice a year.”
Goel focused on healthy eating and bought a house the very next year. “With both my wife and I running start-ups, and my parents being senior citizens, we’ve invested in a strong support system: a home manager, a driver, a cook and domestic helpers. It keeps life running smoothly so we can focus on what matters.”
His message redefines luxury as spending time with loved ones, physical and mental well-being and freedom from financial stress.
Social media users call his long-term planning “impressive” and admire him for prioritising family over an extravagant lifestyle.
He also shares that he takes a few international trips every year to rejuvenate himself.

In November 2021, I sold my startup to a larger company for millions of dollars. I was 26 years old when this happened.
